Campo Maior is known for its famous paper flowers, but also for its coffee!
For many people this statement may sound strange, but the truth is that this small municipality in the interior of Portugal is the cradle of one of the largest national brands, Delta Cafés.
Campo Maior is one of the largest coffee processing centers in the Iberian Peninsula and it is here that the leading brand in the market has its factories, with a history whose origins date back to the first half of the 20th century.
Besides Delta Cafes, Campo Maior is also home to other smaller coffee brands, which together contribute greatly to the local economy.
Campo Maior’s relationship with coffee and its transformation and trade is also closely linked to smuggling, which for much of the last century was one of the main economic activities in the territories of the line, benefiting from the border situation with Spain and the consequent trade that occurred here.
